As a Native American born in Inglewood & growing up in Lynwood, CA, I did things “my” way, the hard way. But, at 13, my family moved to Pt. Loma, an upper middle class neighborhood in San Diego & I found myself culture-shocked! Exposure to both of these dark & light worlds, if you will, helped forge who I am & what I do today as a self-taught abstract artist since 2001. The support, love & feedback (especially the early years) by my family & friends have been invaluable to me. Known for being candid, that honesty & sincerity is reflected throughout my artwork.
My art has exhibited in the Gaslamp district in Downtown San Diego, as well as offices in the San Diego NC & OC Metro areas. I paint abstract commissioned pieces for private individuals. This January, 2010 I’ll announce a NEW “spin” involving commissioned artworks.
I love the vibrancy of colors & use acrylics & oils to action paint on canvas infusing recycled materials such as rusted metals, broken glass, porcelain tile & wire. Ultimately, what ends up on my canvas comes from a strong, primordial urge to bring out cryptanalysis & put forth form, structure, texture & color that literally vibrates into a painting that is decipherable, visually beautiful & “moves” some people though, they, themselves cannot always explain why.
